Explore the unique properties of transparent watercolor and all its possibilities of expression. Classes will introduce techniques demonstrated with a variety of brushes, pigments, and papers.

The location of The Art Barge presents a beautiful beach subject to work from and this class will inspire your personal interpretation of the local view. We will observe the distant horizon as well as a closer focus with still life subjects that are available in the studio. Demonstrations will direct you to explore the creative possibilities as you interpret your personal focus with the watercolor media. Combine watercolors with other water-based pigments such as gouache, inks, and acrylics.  Experiment with the techniques of washes, dry brush and wet-on-wet, etc. Emphasis will be placed on becoming more confident in the use of watercolor media and papers. The Art Barge will provide all basic materials for beginners, but it is suggested that more experienced participants bring the watercolor supplies they have.
