Participants will explore line, shape, composition, and color in preliminary sketches to work up to a completed painting from the model. The skills of good observation, the ability to convey the three-dimensionality of form, and the cultivation of edge, color, and value sensitivity will all be developed in an exploration of the underlying structure of the human form. Oil or acrylic paints can be used. More experienced painters should bring their own paints and brushes. Midweek, participants will tour the D’Amico House to view the collection. A critique will be held on the last day of class.
