Explore the process and possibilities of image transfer- lifting ink/toner from a color or black and white laser copier printout and then affixing the image to watercolor paper or canvas. The resulting more transparent image can be used as a point of interest on a surface that becomes integrated into a painting using water-based mediums. Participants can use this unique transfer process to create abstract or representational paintings. Participants can also experiment with including elements of drawing, text, and collage into their paintings.

The Barge will provide all basic materials such as matte medium, paints, brushes, hairdryers, paper, and canvases. Participants are expected to come to the first class with a collection of color and/or black and white laser printed copies no larger than 8 ½ by 11 inches in size. (Local libraries, and office supply stores offer laser printing).
