Inspired by Mabel D’Amico’s handmade and altered wardrobe, explore the application of fabrics to a flat surface or recycled clothing. Through demonstrations/motivations/exercises, discover the various possibilities of fabric collage using a variety of fabric sources and sewing techniques, such as basic stitching, embroidery and quilting. Students are encouraged to bring in their own samples of fabrics or clothing. Mid-week, participants will tour the D’Amico house to view Mabel’s clothing collection. A critique will be held on the last day of class.
