This beginner workshop will survey the fundamentals of encaustic painting, the ancient technique of using hot wax and pigment. Start by learning to melt, mix, and apply wax, exploring its unique properties and behavior. Then introduce texture, drawing, collage, transfers, stencils, and more through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises to help you gain confidence and creative freedom with this rich, tactile medium. A critique will be held on the final day of class.
