This class will explore drypoint printmaking using plexiglass plates and water-based inks.  We will be working with water-based inks because some of the inks, chemicals, and acids in traditional printmaking can be unhealthy.  Scratching images into a plexiglass surface is easy to do.  Adding tones/values with different sandpaper grades is both effective and economical. While the number of editions may be limited with plexi plates (usually under twenty prints with a half dozen proofs) the safety and versatility of the process will be rewarding.  Bring along your sketchbook filled with drawings and ideas as we will get a plate going in the first session. The Art Barge will supply plexi plates, tools, water-based inks and printing paper.
