Explore abstract painting as a device for emotional expression, with an emphasis on spontaneity. Paint intuitively and leave judgments and demands of the intellect behind.

Each session will introduce a new starting point or technique: letters, words, curves, circles, strokes, swatches of color, glue, thick paint, or fluid and alternative painting tools that can be used as a motivation to lead to line, form, texture, and color. Work on paper or canvas with acrylic pigments as you reach into your imagination and allow yourself the freedom to play. Students can work on one painting a day or one for the week. Midweek participants will tour the D’Amico House to view the collection. A critique will be held on the last day of class.
