This workshop explores traditional transparent watercolor with an emphasis on abstraction and color as sources of inspiration, supported by art historical references for deeper insight. Through a series of set-ups, exercises, and demonstrations, participants will experiment with washes, dry brush, wet-on-wet techniques, and other water-based pigments, including gouache, on a variety of watercolor papers and surfaces to expand abstract and expressive  possibilities. More experienced participants are encouraged to bring the watercolor supplies they already have. A group critique will be held on the final day of class.
