INTRO TO ASSEMBLAGE with Christopher Kohan (p.m.)

- Open to beginners
- All supplies provided
- Participants will tour the D’Amico House midweek to view Mabel D’Amico’s assemblage artworks
Designed for artists new to working in assemblage, this introductory course explores transforming natural and man-made found materials into cohesive sculptural compositions. By learning from art historical examples, with a particular emphasis on Mabel D’Amico’s assemblage practice, participants will concentrate on three projects that reflect their personal voice and creative vision: a wall-mounted work, a hanging piece, and a freestanding sculpture. Participants can bring materials that have personal value to them for use in their artwork (personal treasures, photographs, natural objects, or ‘imaginings’), and a variety will be provided. Battery and electric tool usage will be taught. A critique will be held on the last day of class.
Instructor: Christopher Kohan
Note: This is an introductory class, designed for beginners. Returning Assemblage students should enroll in a more advanced workshop. Check out 3D Assemblage Open Studio.
