SUMMARY:WATERCOLOR with Jim Bergesen (p.m.)
DESCRIPTION:Explore the properties of traditional transparent watercolors and other water-based pigments with a series of set-ups\, exercises\, and demonstrations as motivational inspiration. Combine watercolors with other water-based pigments such as gouache\, and acrylics.  Experiment with the techniques of washes\, dry brush and wet-on-wet\, etc. Emphasis will be placed on becoming more confident in the use of watercolor media and papers. The Barge will provide all basic materials for beginners\, but it is suggested that more experienced participants bring the watercolor supplies they have. \nInstructor: Jim Bergesen

We will focus on using different materials such as glass\, beads wire and resin to create jewelry.  Emphasis will be on exploring the materials\, techniques and process rather then the results. Outdoor easels and tables are available for use on the Barge decks and adjacent beaches.  Instructor demonstrations\, motivational set-ups\, life models and Friday group critiques are included.  Artists are encouraged to supply their own paints\, brushes\, and painting surfaces/canvases.  A storage space is provided.  Extra tubes of paint or pre-stretched canvases can be purchased on the premises. \nInstructor: Michael Rosch

DESCRIPTION:This workshop will survey the fundamentals of encaustic painting – the ancient technique of using hot wax and pigment.  Explore rudimentary to complex two-dimensional methods while learning to melt\, mix\, and apply wax to create smooth and textured surfaces.  Incising wax to create intricate drawings and collages\, transfers\, and stencils will be investigated.
