SUMMARY:CHILDREN’S ART CARNIVAL: SEA with Daniel Vernola (Ages 6-8 yrs)
DESCRIPTION:Open to all levels\, ages 6-8 yrs\nAll supplies provided \n\nThe Art Barge was founded on Victor D’Amico’s vision to create a unique arts education in a place that was “more dramatic [than a regular classroom] and reflecting the character of the environment—sky\, sea\, and salt air…” The Sea\, Sky & Salt Air Children’s Carnival does just that — It offers an immersive week-long creative education experience for children\, inspired by the unparalleled landscape and natural world surrounding The Art Barge. \nThis week of Children’s classes will guide 6-8 year olds through a dynamic array of indoor and outdoor art-making experiences focused on the sea and aquatic life. Artistic motivations in drawing\, painting\, collage\, and/or sculpture centered around the sea will help children develop their own unique\, creative process and expression. \nInstructor: Daniel Vernola

SUMMARY:D'Amico House Tour
DESCRIPTION:When Mabel and Victor D’Amico secured the lot in Lazy Point\, they built a modern beach house\, a flat-roofed\, glass box structure with an open interior\, the design of which\, in many ways foreshadowed that of The Art Barge. Facing Gardiner’s Bay and the entrance to Napeague Harbor on the Lazy Point peninsula\, providing a magnificent\, dynamic natural setting and striking vistas. Inside you will be treated to a diverse collection of original artwork\, furnishings\, and objects\, such as designs collected by the D’Amicos through the Museum of Modern Art and the D’Amicos’ own. The majority of the artworks and numerous objects displayed are by Mabel\, a found object construction artist. Permanent displays and temporary exhibits show the breadth of her creative output\, which includes paintings\, work in glass and wood\, jewelry and clothes. The house features ingenious functional aspects like cabinetry integrated beneath the stairway\, unique lighting and electrical systems\, sculptural door casings\, and hand-glazed glass tile countertops\, all designed\, created\, and installed by Mabel and Victor. Visitors experience profoundly Mabel and Victor’s creatively prolific lives. \nTHIS IS A DOCENT LED TOUR. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS APPOINTMENT SO THAT WE CAN LET THE DOCENT KNOW. THANK YOU.
