SUMMARY:ART FOR THE FAMILY (a.m.)
DESCRIPTION:ADULT PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED. ONE CHILD PER ADULT – NO DROP-OFFS.\nAges 6+\nAll supplies provided\nCost is per duo. Book one spot for two people at $75.\n\nDesigned for ages 6+ with an adult\, the workshop is an opportunity for a child to create with a parent\, grandparent\, friend or relative. Inspired by Victor D’Amico’s book\, of the same title\, published in 1954 by the Museum of Modern Art\, the workshop is based on Victor’s conviction that “all people have creative ability and that anyone at any age can enjoy and develop they’re aptitudes in art.” You will be motivated to see in different ways\, to try new things\, and be guided through a process of discovery\, of yourself and the world around you. Discover your talent. Discover the artist within you. Art is for everybody\, and everyone can do this! \nInstructor: Daniel Vernola

SUMMARY:D'Amico House Tour
DESCRIPTION:When Mabel and Victor D’Amico secured the lot in Lazy Point\, they built a modern beach house\, a flat-roofed\, glass box structure with an open interior\, the design of which\, in many ways foreshadowed that of The Art Barge. Facing Gardiner’s Bay and the entrance to Napeague Harbor on the Lazy Point peninsula\, providing a magnificent\, dynamic natural setting and striking vistas. Inside you will be treated to a diverse collection of original artwork\, furnishings\, and objects\, such as designs collected by the D’Amicos through the Museum of Modern Art and the D’Amicos’ own. The majority of the artworks and numerous objects displayed are by Mabel\, a found object construction artist. Permanent displays and temporary exhibits show the breadth of her creative output\, which includes paintings\, work in glass and wood\, jewelry and clothes. The house features ingenious functional aspects like cabinetry integrated beneath the stairway\, unique lighting and electrical systems\, sculptural door casings\, and hand-glazed glass tile countertops\, all designed\, created\, and installed by Mabel and Victor. Visitors experience profoundly Mabel and Victor’s creatively prolific lives. \nTHIS IS A DOCENT LED TOUR. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS APPOINTMENT SO THAT WE CAN LET THE DOCENT KNOW. THANK YOU.
