SUMMARY:STUDIO PROCESS with Jennifer Cross (a.m.)
DESCRIPTION:STUDIO classes provide individual instruction to artists at all levels of experience in a group setting. Instruction will aim at heightening the power of expression of each artist in relation to her/his inherent uniqueness.   Artists may work using any medium or any combination thereof: acrylic\, oil\, watercolor\, tempera\, drawing media\, collage media and assemblage media. Outdoor easels and tables are available for use on the Barge decks and adjacent beaches.  Instructor demonstrations\, motivational set-ups\, life models and Friday group critiques are included.  Artists are encouraged to supply their own paints\, brushes\, and painting surfaces/canvases.  A storage space is provided.  Extra tubes of paint or pre-stretched canvases can be purchased on the premises. \nInstructor: Jennifer Cross

SUMMARY:WATERCOLOR (a.m.)
DESCRIPTION:Explore the properties of traditional transparent watercolors and other water-based pigments with a series of set-ups\, exercises\, and demonstrations as motivational inspiration. Combine watercolors with other water-based pigments such as tempera\, gouache\, and acrylics.  Experiment with the techniques of washes\, dry brush and wet on wet\, etc. Emphasis will be placed on becoming more confident in the use of supplies and materials. \n\n\n\nThe Barge will provide all basic materials for beginners\, but it is suggested that participants bring whatever brushes\, pigments\, and papers that they already have.

SUMMARY:GLASS FUSING with Teresa Lawler (p.m.)
DESCRIPTION:Work with colored sheet glass\, powder\, frit\, and stringers to explore techniques that build a wide range of glass fused and slump molded pieces. Specific hands-on exercises in cutting and arranging glass will lead the participant to develop an understanding of the materials and to create pieces reflecting one’s personal style.  Glass and tools will be provided.  No experience with glass art is required. \nInstructor: Teresa Lawler

SUMMARY:D'Amico House Tour
DESCRIPTION:The D’Amico Studio & Archive are located at the house which dates to 1940\, when Mabel and Victor secured the lot in Lazy Point. They built a modern beach house\, a flat-roofed\, glass box structure with an open interior\, the design of which\, in many ways foreshadowed that of The Art Barge. Facing Gardiner’s Bay and the entrance to Napeague Harbor on the Lazy Point peninsula\, providing a magnificent\, dynamic natural setting and striking vistas. Inside you will be treated to a diverse collection of original artwork\, furnishings\, and objects\, such as designs collected by the D’Amicos through the Museum of Modern Art and the D’Amicos’ own. The majority of the artworks and numerous objects displayed are by Mabel\, a found object construction artist. Permanent displays and temporary exhibits show the breadth of her creative output\, which includes paintings\, work in glass and wood\, jewelry and clothes. The house features ingenious functional aspects like cabinetry integrated beneath the stairway\, unique lighting and electrical systems\, sculptural door casings\, and hand-glazed glass tile countertops\, all designed\, created\, and installed by Mabel and Victor. Visitors experience profoundly Mabel and Victor’s creatively prolific lives.
